Class Information

Our Club and training program is designed for all dogs and people of all ages and abilities. Both purebred and mixed breed dogs are welcome to attend all classes. We charge $75 for a 7 week session, with a discount for the first session of classes for dogs adopted from a shelter.

All classes are taught by Club members who have successfully trained their own dog(s) and have apprenticed at least two classes. They're all devoted dog lovers, interested in learning all they can about their favorite subjects: dogs, and the teaching of dog training. Operational functions of the club are performed by members on a volunteer basis.

Important Obedience Registration Information

Winter Obedience registration will be held Monday, January 3, 2012 from 6:00-7:30 pm.  Most Classes will begin the week of Jan 17, 2012.

Due to the holiday season and various dog shows out of town, the Obed Director, Glenna Felty, will be unable to return telephone calls inquiring about classes. However she will have email so please email her at corginet@verizon.net with any questions and she will gladly email you back. Also, confirmation of class registrations will be emailed between Dec 20th and Jan 1st due to the inability of mail to reach her.

Open Registration is the first day for non-members (people who are not currently DDTC members) to register for classes. Class availability is extremely limited after Open Registration, so it is in your best interest to get there. Classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis, and only a completed Obedience Registration form and payment will secure your place (we do not “hold” places over phone or via email).

When coming to Open Registration, please bring your veterinary records, as well as adoption papers if you adopted your dog from a shelter. For faster registration, you may also complete the Obedience Registration form (see below) and bring it with you to Open Registration.

Non-members may only submit an Obedience Registration form by mail after the Open Registration date, and subject to class availability.

Puppy Kindergarten (KPT) is for puppies 2-6months of age. Topics such as housebreaking, biting, grooming and destructive behavior are discussed. Puppies learn to socialize with other dogs and people, and are introduced to basic obedience.

Beginning Basic is offered for dogs 7 months and older. Owners are taught how to teach their dogs the basic obedience commands: SIT, DOWN, STAND, COME and HEEL. Proper dog care is also taught.

Advanced Basic is a continuation of what the dogs began to learn in Beginning Basic, so that the dog will be very solid on the fundamentals of obedience commands.

Advanced Basic/Rally I - same as Advanced Basic (above) with introduction to the newest AKC titling event, Rally Obedience. Here you'll learn most of the Rally exercises and get your dog ready for the Rally Novice routine.

Rally 2 – students will learn the rest of the Rally exercises and develop proficiency at reading the Rally signs.

Beginning Novice, Advanced Novice, Open and Utility classes are available for the person who wishes to go into or is interested in learning more about competitive obedience.
